Earth Day - Grounding Your Body & Nourishing Your Gut

When we think of Earth Day, we often think of planting trees, reducing waste, and spending time outside. But there is another environment we need to tend to just as carefully: our internal ecosystem. The gut and the brain are deeply connected to the natural world, and when we feel ungrounded, our digestion and nervous system are the first to show it.

This week, as we celebrate the earth, I want to invite you to think about how you are grounding your own body. For neurodivergent individuals and those with sensitive nervous systems, feeling disconnected or overwhelmed can quickly lead to digestive distress and brain fog. We need rhythms that anchor us.

One of the most profound ways to ground the nervous system is through scent. Essential oils derived from trees and roots carry the steady, anchoring energy of the earth itself. This week, I have been diffusing Young Living's Sacred Frankincense and Cedarwood. These oils signal safety to the brain, helping to lower the internal volume so the gut can relax and do its job. When the nervous system feels safe, digestion improves. When digestion improves, the brain gets clearer.

To support that internal environment, we also need to look at what we are eating. Real, nutrient-dense food is the foundation of a resilient gut and a steady brain. This week, I am sharing a recipe that brings together the healing power of high-quality proteins and fats. It is a simple, low-oxalate dish that nourishes without overwhelming the system.

The Earth Day Diffuser Blend

Diffuse these three oils together this week to create a grounding, forest-like atmosphere in your home:

2 drops Sacred Frankincense + 2 drops Cedarwood + 1 drop Vetiver

This combination is deeply calming to the nervous system and creates an environment that feels safe, steady, and connected to the earth.

Earth and Gut Loving Kitchen Hacks

Supporting the gut and brain does not have to be overwhelming. It can be as simple as keeping a few things in your kitchen that work with your body instead of against it. This week's recipe is a perfect example: a Grounding Sardine & Egg Breakfast Bowl that provides sustained brain energy, omega-3 fatty acids, and healthy fats to start your day with a steady, calm foundation.

Sardine & Egg Breakfast Bowl

Sardines are packed with omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), which are essential for reducing neurological inflammation and supporting cognitive function. Paired with pasture-raised eggs and cooked in grass-fed ghee, this low-oxalate meal provides sustained energy and steady blood sugar throughout the morning. It is also one of the most affordable brain-health meals you can make.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tin of high-quality sardines in olive oil or water (bones and skin included — these are rich in calcium)

  • 1 or 2 pasture-raised eggs (soft-boiled/poached as pictured, but make them any style you love!)

  • A generous handful of fresh arugula and mixed microgreens (low oxalate)

  • 1/4 cup cooked quinoa or millet

  • 1/4 avocado, sliced

  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin seeds (pepitas)

  • A few cherry tomatoes, halved (if tolerated)

  • Pickled or lacto-ferment red onions (for a gentle probiotic boost)

  • Fresh parsley and dill for garnish

  • 1 tablespoon high-quality olive oil

  • A pinch of non-iodized sea salt and black pepper

  • Fresh lemon zest and 1 drop Young Living Lemon Vitality™ essential oil (optional, for digestive support and brightness)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare your egg(s) exactly how you love them. A soft-boiled or poached egg (about 6 minutes) creates a beautiful, creamy yolk that acts as a dressing for the bowl, but fried or scrambled works perfectly too.

  2. Build your base: layer the fresh arugula, microgreens, and cooked quinoa in a wide, shallow bowl.

  3. Arrange your toppings: place the whole sardines, sliced avocado, cherry tomatoes, and pickled red onions around the bowl.

  4. Add your egg to the center.

  5. Sprinkle the pumpkin seeds over the quinoa for a satisfying crunch.

  6. Drizzle the entire bowl with high-quality olive oil.

  7. Garnish with fresh parsley, dill, sea salt, pepper, and a grating of fresh lemon zest. If using, mix one drop of Lemon Vitality™ into the olive oil before drizzling for an extra bright, digestive-supporting finish.

This meal is simple, deeply nourishing, and requires very little energy to prepare. It is perfect for busy mornings or when your nervous system needs gentle, grounding support.

Midday Movement Reset

Rhythmic movement helps the brain regulate digestion and blood sugar.

After a meal, try:

- Jumping up and down for 30–60 seconds

- 10 squats

- 3 deep nasal breaths

Food, scent, and movement work best together.

Everything I share here follows the same rhythm

Calm the nervous system → Steady blood sugar → Support the gut → Build from there.

That’s exactly the approach behind the Metabolic Reset.

The Metabolic Reset - Each Month

We begin new round of the Metabolic Reset is May 9th, and it runs as an ongoing support rhythm every single month.

This is a primal-based reset focused on:

- steady energy

- nervous-system regulation

- simple meals

- gentle movement

- daily metabolic support

Many women join the group to heal from gut inflammation and find that they can more easily lose belly fat, release negative thought patterns, and have brain fog disappear.

To join, you just need the Make a Shift Reset Kit ($145).

That includes NingXia Red and access to our Private Metabolic Reset Facebook group.

You don’t need to overhaul your life.

You need rhythms your nervous system can trust.
